Electronic Arts has reportedly terminated an unspecified number of employees at the game development studios responsible for the Battlefield series. According to IGN, the reductions are part of a broader realignment strategy affecting Dice, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios—key studios under the Battlefield umbrella. In response to the news, an EA representative stated, "We have made targeted adjustments within our Battlefield organization to ensure our teams are focused on what is most important to our players."
Despite the workforce reductions, all affected studios will continue operations, though the impact may be felt across multiple locations. This move could come as an unexpected shift for some employees, particularly in light of the massive commercial success of Battlefield 6, which sold over seven million units in its first three days on the market. The title was even labeled by EA as "the top-selling shooter of 2025" in its Q3 FY26 financial report, which revealed net revenue exceeding $1.9 billion for the quarter.
"Battlefield remains a core focus for us, and we're continuing to invest in the franchise based on player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs," said an EA spokesperson in a separate statement.
However, Battlefield isn't the only EA property facing restructuring. Full Circle, the studio behind the skate. game, also announced staff reductions and organizational changes in February. Furthermore, downsizing is not exclusive to EA. Ubisoft previously indicated plans to eliminate up to 200 positions in its Paris office, while Microsoft announced extensive job cuts across its Gaming division in July.
